    Alexander Clarke’s practice focuses primarily on debt finance transactions. Alexander has broad experience of matters relating to debt finance and lending arrangements, including cross-border syndicated loans for investment grade borrowers and other clients, project finance, acquisition finance, venture debt finance, security arrangements and general intra-group and inter-group loan agreements. Alexander also has experience advising in relation to mergers and acquisitions and general corporate and commercial transactions.

    Alexander has advised a number of individual clients in relation to various lending transactions.

    Alexander has gained particular experience working with UK and international clients in the financial, life sciences, consumer goods, energy, and technology sectors.

    • Advising Bacardi Limited in relation to the bank finance aspects of its acquisition of Patrón Spirits International AG and its PATRÓN® brand, the world’s top-selling ultra-premium tequila, from John Paul DeJoria, a founder of Patrón. The acquisition reflected an enterprise value for Patrón of U.S. $5.1 billion. 
    • Advising Bacardi Limited in relation to the negotiation and implementation of a global working capital syndicated multicurrency loan facility, to be available from 2015 onwards.
    • Advising Qualcomm Inc. in relation to the sale of part of its L-Band spectrum in the UK.
    • Representing Giorgio Armani S.p.A. in relation to various corporate transactions.
    • Advising Magticom, Georgia’s leading telecoms company, in connection with a $100 million loan from The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The financing will enable MagtiCom to acquire the fixed-line broadband internet network platform from Caucasus Online in order to further expand into regions outside of Tbilisi.
    • Advising Consort Medical plc, on its £160m revolving credit facility to be used in connection with its £230 million acquisition of Aesica Holdco Limited from Silverfleet Capital and its management.

    • Advising Oxford BioMedica plc, a Main Market listed gene based biopharmaceutical company, on the security aspects of its $50 million secured loan facility from a subsidiary of Oberland Capital Healthcare.
    • Advising ICICI Bank Limited and Standard Chartered Bank on matters relating to an aggregate of US$925m in project financing.
    • Advising Bacardi Limited in relation to the negotiation and implementation of various working capital and acquisition finance multicurrency loan facilities from 2008 to the present.
    • Advising Axis Bank Limited, an Indian private bank, as lead arranger for an aggregate of US$180m in project financings supporting two separate projects being undertaken by Reliance Pharmaceuticals Private Limited.
    • Advising a private equity fund in relation to a €45,000,000 credit facility.
    • Representing a national oil company in relation to the provision of a $300m loan to a UK entity.
    • Advising in relation to on-going covenant compliance by a project company in relation to a major project finance transaction.
    • Advising Solar Century Holdings Limited in respect of general corporate matters.
    • Representing a private investor in relation to the financing of Wandering Star Pictures Limited, to assist in the production and distribution of the movie "Solomon Kane."
    • Advising various life sciences and technology companies in relation to venture debt loans and bi-lateral lending facilities.
