    Agnieszka Klich’s practice focuses on international energy and infrastructure projects. She advises on the acquisition, development, and financing of such projects throughout the world with a focus on renewables, power and water, oil and gas, and mining.

    Agnieszka has advised purchasers, vendors, lenders, developers, and equity investors on many complex projects, several of which have been named “Deal of the Year” by leading industry journals.

    • Represented the winning bidder in the development and financing of the 200 MW solar wind park in the Emirate of Dubai.
    • Represented a bidder on its proposal to develop and finance the proposed coal-fired power plant in the Emirate of Dubai.
    • Represented Westinghouse (alone or with consortium members) on the development of nuclear power plants in a number of jurisdictions around the world.
    • Represented the lenders to the project company (owned by ACWA Power and Vale) on the financing of the Moatize independent power and coal project developed in Mozambique to supply electricity to the Moatize mine and to Electricidade de Moçambique, E.P.
    • Represented the project company in the development of a coal fired power plant in Kazakhstan.

    • Represented a sponsor consortium in its bid for the 1,600 MW capacity power plant and 52.5 MIGD reverse-osmosis desalination plant in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
    • Represented GDF SUEZ in the development and U.S. $1 billion financing of two gas-fired peaking power projects in the Republic of South Africa, the largest IPP financing in sub-Saharan Africa. This deal was named “African Power Deal of the Year 2013” by Project Finance magazine.
    • Represented a consortium in relation to its bid for the 2,400 MW and 130 MIGD Facility D IWPP in Qatar.
    • Represented a Japanese consortium on a bid to develop and finance the Olkaria IV geothermal power plant in Kenya.
    • Represented three separate developer groups on the development and financing of three utility-scale solar PV projects in the first round of the direct proposal process.
    • Represented a developer group on the development and financing of a wind farm in Jordan (pursuant to the direct proposal process).
    • Represented the project company, Aurora Wind Power (RF) (Pty) Ltd, in connection with the ZAR1.5 billion (U.S. $146 million) financing of the 94 MW West Coast One wind project in South Africa.
    • Represented Standard Bank on the development and financing of solar PV power plants in South Africa in the aggregate amount of 20 MW.
    • Represented an ACWA Power-led consortium in the development and financing of a 50 MW CSP solar plant in the Republic of South Africa. The project was awarded “African Renewable Deal of the Year 2013” by Project Finance International magazine.
    • Represented Crescent Capital in relation to its acquisition of an interest in a wind farm in Croatia.
    • Represented Tractebel Energia, the borrower, in connection with a corporate loan to finance wind farms in Brazil.
    • Represented IPR/GDF SUEZ and Mitsui on the development and C$795 million financing of a wind and solar portfolio in Canada.
    • Represented a global solar PV project developer on the development of a 13 MW PV power plant in Dubai. This project is the first to be developed in the context of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum Solar Park.
    • Represented a sponsor consortium on its successful bid for the development of the combined cycle gas-fired 1,700 MW Rabigh II IPP in Saudi Arabia. This project was named “Middle Eastern Power Deal of the Year 2013” by Project Finance magazine.
    • Represented a power company in relation to its acquisition of an interest in a European gas pipeline.
    • Represented ACWA Power Barka on the refinancing and expansion of Barka I IWPP which was named “Middle Eastern Power Deal of the Year 2012” by Project Finance magazine.
    • Advised a consortium on its bid to finance and develop the Al Ghubrah IWP in Oman.
    • Represented the winning bidder on the development and financing of Al Qurayyah IPP, an approximately 4000 MW gas/oil fired combined cycle electric power plant in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project was awarded “Middle Eastern Power Deal of the Year 2011” by Project Finance magazine, and “Best Project Finance Deal of the Year” by Euromoney Islamic Finance Awards 2012.
    • Advised a consortium on the proposed expansion of the 2,730 MW and 63 MIGD Ras Laffan C IWPP in Qatar, including undertaking a detailed review of the Ras Laffan C project documents and advising on EPC and financing arrangements.
    • Advised ACWA Power International’s acquisition of the largest power generator in Jordan, CEGCO, with seven power generation complexes nationwide totaling about 1,700 MW.
    • Represented GDF SUEZ SA and other sponsors in the bid to build and finance the Barka 3 and Sohar 2 independent power projects in the Sultanate of Oman.
    • Represented the winning bidder on the development and financing of this U.S. $2.7 billion, 1,500 MW, 100 MIGD power and desalination project in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. This transaction was awarded “Gulf Power Deal of the Year” by Project Finance International magazine.
    • Represented the Government of Jordan in an effort to privatize the railway system in Jordan.
    • Represented the borrower (owned by GDF SUEZ SA and GEK Terna SA) on the development and financing of a merchant power project in Greece.
    • Represented Elpedison (owned by Hellenic Petroleum and Edison) on various operation and financing matters relating to the Thessaloniki and Thisvi power projects in Greece.
    • Represented the Turkish gold mining company in a 144A offering.
    • Represented Park Holding and its affiliates in two coal-fired power plants and ship financings in Turkey.
    • Represented the borrower (owned by TAV Holdings) in the development and financing of airports in the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia.
    • Represented the lenders (Islamic, ECA, multilateral and commercial) in connection with the development and financing (by Xenel and KepCo) of this IPP in Jordan.
    • Represented Electrabel SA (a subsidiary of Suez SA) and Gas de France in the acquisition of the 1,875 MW power station at Teesside, England.
    • Represented Gulf Total Tractebel Power Company and its shareholders in the expansion of the Taweelah A1 IWPP and the amendment and restatement of its project and financing documentation.
    • Represented Compagnie Generale des Eaux and Besix S.A. in the acquisition, development and financing of the wastewater project in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
    • Represented Veolia in respect of its bid to assume management and operation of the Abu Dhabi electricity and water distribution systems.
    • Represented the sponsors and the borrower on the approximately U.S. $2.4 billion development and financing of this independent power and water facility in Saudi Arabia. This transaction was named “Middle East Power (IWPP) Deal of the Year” by Project Finance magazine.
    • Represented Hellenic Petroleum in its oil exploration activities in Montenegro, Egypt, and Libya.
    • Represented the sponsors on the development and financing of the U.S. $475 million Baymina BOO 700-MW IPP project in Ankara, Turkey. Elected “EMEA Power Deal of the Year” 2003 by Project Finance International magazine.
